Book Booster
Every class begins with a one minute “book boost”. Students are given one minute (exactly) to “boost” or promote a book that they have read and enjoyed. Every Friday, we schedule our boosters for the next week. Students will be given a blue sheet entitled “Favourite Books” for them to use to jot down notes on their book. They can use this sheet to help them remember discussion points if they choose. I do give them class time to complete the sheet and all sheets are kept on file for the class to reference. This is a fun activity that allows students to share their positive reading experiences with the class. It also gives them an opportunity to gain confidence expressing themselves orally in a non-threatening relaxed environment. Watch for upcoming videos of students boosting!!!
